Stephane Lemeret:"This weekend in Mettet the Honda Civic of the Boutsen Ginion Racing was above the level of the competitors in terms of performance. We found the ideal set-up with our engineer Kevin Boutsen and the mechanics, who did a great job. Unfortunately, with a transmission broken at the start of the first race it was difficult for us, but we were able to score important points for the championship, which was the goal of the meeting."
Benjamin Lessennes:"A Sunday that started with a technical problem and therefore a big loss of points, knowing that the championship is very tight. As a conclusion, we finalized the weekend with two magnificent sprint races and two more victories in the TCR Benelux.”
To begin with, it was pole position for our two drivers, Stephane Lemeret and Benjamin Lessennes, each time fastest in their respective qualifying session and consequently the first place on the front row for the long race. However, the long race would be very short for us due to a breakdown of transmission that ruined all our effort. Our Honda Civic TCR #2 then had to start at the back of the grid for the sprint races 1 and 3.
The initial Sprint 1 resulted in Stephane Lemeret taking P5 and brought us back to the podium with third place in Sprint 2.
Sprint 3 with Benjamin Lessennes saw the youngster from Belgium take the victory! He started from pole position for Sprint 4 and doubled the wager to gain the maximum points.
Benjamin Lessennes was no longer the points leader by lunchtime, which left Mettet ruling the championship 14 points ahead and best Junior driver of the weekend.
Everything will be decided during the final meeting at Assen (NL) on October 21-22.
